1253 The birth of a cellar
The history goes back to 1253 when the Cistercian monks built the convent and the cellar bordering the wall of the ramparts of Soultz. The chapel of the Three Kings was an integral part of the religious life of Soultz until its demolition during the Revolution. The buildings of the convent were sold as national property in 1792, thus becoming separate houses. Our house located at 3 rue de la Chapelle, was called "Maison de Brinighoffen", then "Maison Weinzaepfel" when Jean-Baptiste Weinzaepfel acquired the house in 1882. The old cellar was then the place where the wines were elaborated and matured, thus giving a new name; Maison du Vigneron.

1899 A family history
In 1899, the history of wine making began. Louis Weinzaepfel, was above all passionate about animals, he raised cows, sheep, pigs and cultivated fields and vines. The few ares that were vinified were sold in barrels to the highest bidders. Paul followed in his father's footsteps by taking over the vineyards and the animals. He was more passionate about winemaking. He then started bottling the wines and gradually gained a reputation in the Alsatian vineyards. He enriched all the steps of the wine elaboration and thus forged a style, a spirit and a dynamic. His wife Marie-Antoinette leads the marketing with her remarkable temperament and energy, to full success. In 1964, when their son Marc was born, they bought together the house of Weinzaepfel, which became the heart of the present Domaine. A tragic accident caused the end of the marketing.

2018
In 2018, Loïc moved into the operation. He instituted important changes aimed at pursuing the quest for excellence. It was during his first year that he tested the different tools and techniques to convert the entire production to Organic Agriculture. Although already concerned about the soil and the environment before, a new era is underway introducing many biodynamic practices without being certified.
